The Black Gnat is a a great multi-purpose dry fly. Use this when black terrestrials are about, it will mimic hawthorn fly, black chironomids and dark sedges when used in various sizes. Fished near the reeds on a still evening it takes plenty of fish feeding on the real thing. Besides this fly being good on stillwaters it is also highly regarded on the Northern and Welsh rivers.
