The Alexandra is a traditional pattern known originally as The Lady of the Lake but was renamed in the 1860’s in honour of Queen Alexandra when she was a Princess. In its early days it was considered too deadly and was banned on some waters. This fly can be used in the smaller sizes as an attractor pattern or in the larger sizes as a lure. The fly succeeds as and attractor arousing the trout’s aggressive tendencies. Considered by many to be an excellent sea trout pattern which are tied in many styles including the flying treble and other multi hook varieties, these can been seen under sea trout patterns on this site.
